Sport deals with the growing need for a healthy life style, a closer contact with nature, without forgetting culture: cycling, running, or canoyeing, are physical ways to enjoy the outdoor while sightseeing historical and cultural places.
Opolskie region provides such an environment filled with great natural and cultural spots ready to be discovered. With a great number of lakes, forests, and its diverse and heteregneous typography, the area displays a great variety of conditions to practice different kind of activities.

The Opole Voivodeship is also a land of castles, palaces and manor houses. There are almost 200 of them, particularly impressive ones in Brzeg, Otmuchów, Głogówek, Kamień Śląski, Moszna, Sulisława and Frączków. It is also worth seeingPaczków - the "Polish Carcassonne” - and Nysa,"Silesian Rome". An extremely important place in the region is St. Anne's Mountain, that was an ancient volcano.

Many trails bind those places together. For instance, the Cistercian Route connects severals 12th century edifices, that are still today preserved by monks. The Wooden Construction Route is likewise a great rideable path for lovers of beautiful architecture, that passes through 12 old wooden buildings among the 70 that the region embodies.

The Opolskie region hosts many running events most notably the Opolski Marathon (11.05.2019), Odrzanska Marathon (27.10.2019) and Atlantis Run (6.7.2019). They all feature great competition but also an amazing background, filled with culture and nature, as shown by the continuously growing number of participants.

Sport opportunities are increased thanks to the great amount of infrastructures in the region: among an iceskating rink, a bouldering site, swimming and sailing sites, every sport lover will find something to enjoy.
The wide sport legacy of the Opolskie region was recognized and extended when Opole was chosen as a final stage for the Tour de Pologne in 2012. This shows undoubtly that the regions offers a great setting for different types of cycling race.
Opawa mountains and the neighbouring forest feature a great environment for mountain biking, or trail running.
The Otmuchowiskie lake, the Turawiskie lake, the Glebinowiskie lake, or the Januszkowice lake will please swimmers and sailors, while those who love canoyeing will find a great challenge in Mala Panew or Stobrawa rivers.
This wide natural diversity is key when it come to organizing challenging triathlon, like Odra Triathlon (7.07.2019), or Triathlon Opole (23.06.2019).
Nyskie Lake
While spending some time in Opolskie region, it is also worth enjoying the different cutural and entertaining events that occur in the area. The Opole amphitheatre has been the venue of concerts of the National Festival of Polish Songs for over fifty years. Opole also hosts, among others, National Theatrical Confrontations, National Festival of Puppet Theatres, Opole Lamy Film Festival, International Percussion Festival Drum Fest.
